Interior Design Consultation Zurich: Process, Costs and What You Get

An interior design consultation in Zurich takes place either online or with a personal on-site appointment and costs between CHF 250 for a single functional area and CHF 900 for an entire room up to 40 m² at AYLA. Depending on the package, you will receive your finished concept within 10 days to 6 weeks: mood board, floor plan, 3D visualization, and a shopping list with specific sources.

Those searching for the first time usually find glossy pictures and "price on request." Therefore, here's the process without beating around the bush – step by step, with prices, delivery times, and an honest assessment of who it's worth it for.

How does an interior design consultation work?

The process consists of four steps: choose package, online call, style check, receive concept. From booking to the finished concept, you don't have to do much yourself – except honestly describe how you actually live in your space.

1. Book a package

You choose the package that suits your room. A single functional area requires less than an open living-dining area.

2. Online Call

We get to know you, your space, and your ideas. Here come the questions that make a difference: Who sits where? What has been bothering you for months? What already works and should stay?

3. Style Check

A short questionnaire about style, needs, and daily life. It prevents the most common problem in interior design consulting: that in the end, a room is created that is beautiful but doesn't suit you.

4. Receive Concept

Depending on the package, you receive a mood board, design concept, floor plan, 3D visualization, and shopping list. For larger packages, a follow-up discussion for final adjustments is possible.

What does an interior design consultation in Zurich cost – and how long does it take?

At AYLA, fixed package prices range from CHF 250 to CHF 900. Processing time ranges from approximately 10 days for a single area to 4 to 6 weeks for a large room concept.

  • Package 1 – CHF 250, approx. 10 days: A functional area, such as a seating area or a workspace. Online call, style check, mood board, shopping list.
  • Package 2 – CHF 700, approx. 3 weeks: A room up to 25 m². Additionally, floor plan and 3D visualization.
  • Package 3 – CHF 900, approx. 4 to 6 weeks: Rooms and open living areas up to 40 m².
  • Full Interior Service: On-site appointment, individual room planning, coordination of implementation. Also for AirBnB properties and B2B projects. Price and timeframe according to scope.

There's a reason why a large concept takes four to six weeks: a floor plan, material selection, 3D visualization, and a well-thought-out shopping list cannot be put together in just a few days if the result is intended to last for years. If you are under time pressure, please tell us beforehand – then we will check what is realistic.

In which regions do we offer on-site consultations?

We offer on-site consultations throughout German-speaking Switzerland – from Lake Constance to Zurich and Lucerne, all the way to Bern and Basel. The online packages are location-independent and work everywhere.

Specifically, this means: Zurich and Zurich Oberland, Eastern Switzerland and the Lake Constance region, Central Switzerland around Lucerne, the Bern region, and the Basel region. If you are unsure whether your place of residence is included, just ask.

Online or on-site – which suits your room?

For most living spaces, online consultation is perfectly sufficient and costs significantly less. An on-site appointment is worthwhile if the room has peculiarities that disappear in photos.

This includes difficult lighting conditions, slanted ceilings, intricate floor plans, or an old building with its own character. Especially in Zurich, Bern, and Basel, the latter is common: old apartments with high ceilings, stucco, and window axes that cannot be captured on a drawing board.

Our on-site home consultation and the online packages can be found in detail on their respective pages.

What exactly do you get in the end?

You receive an implementable concept, not a collection of pretty pictures. The difference lies in the shopping list: without specific products with sources, any consultation remains halfway finished.

  • Moodboard: Colors, materials, mood – visible before you buy anything.
  • Floor Plan: Where each piece of furniture stands, and why exactly there.
  • 3D Visualization: You see the finished room before you commit.
  • Shopping List: Specific products, specific sources.

Through our partnerships with selected brands – including Micasa, Kaqtu, RUGVISTA, and Maana Studios – our clients benefit from exclusive conditions. A point that is often overlooked in the calculation: a portion of the consultation costs is recouped through these conditions.

Who is it worth it for – and who isn't?

An interior design consultation resolves decision-making uncertainty. If you already know what you want, you don't need one.

Useful if: The room has been bothering you for months, but you can't pinpoint why. You have dozens of Pinterest boards and still no direction. You're afraid of making a wrong choice with a larger purchase. You're moving and starting from scratch.

Not useful if: You're just choosing a curtain. You need the result next week – a well-thought-out concept takes time. Or you primarily want someone to do the work for you: you have to implement a concept yourself, unless you book the Full Interior Service.
